Things to Look for in Loading Ramps

You need to measure the outside wheelbase of your forklift so that you purchase a ramp that is wide enough.

Driving your forklift onto a truck or loading dock is easier with a loading ramp. Uneven terrain can make it difficult to transfer loads from one location to another. A forklift ramp can make a huge positive difference in this situation.

Metal, especially steel, is the best metal for the production of forklift ramps. As most ramps are portable they are incredibly easy to use. These portable ramps usually separate into two pieces, an inclined ramp and a straight deck.

You need to measure the outside wheelbase of your forklift so that you purchase a ramp that is wide enough. When purchasing a single runner ramp you need to be sure the ramps are as wide as your tires. There is additional safety if you purchase a ramp that is even wider than your tires.

Small sizes ramps that are about 71 inches wide work well if you are loading onto a small truck such as a pick-up. When you are using a larger truck you will need to purchase a ramp that is at least 81 inches wide. Simply ask your dealer for assistance if you are at all unclear about the proper size ramp for your applications. They can assist you in purchasing the correct ramp.
