Forklift Accessories

Accessories may be necessary to safely perform tasks, as well as to perform them more efficiently.

There are many accessories for use with forklifts, including drum handlers, carpet poles, lift jibs, pallet pullers, load back rests, and man baskets. These accessories can often make a tough job safer. Since forklift operation can sometimes be difficult, accessories that increase worker safety are often invaluable.

Steel is the best material to use for the construction of a man basket, but whatever material is used should be very durable. The sides of a man basket should extend high enough so that there is no risk of a worker falling over the sides, and OSHA requirements should be met when it comes to lanyards and harnesses. Worker safety should always be the first concern.

Accessories may be necessary to safely perform tasks, as well as to perform them more efficiently. Difficult tasks will also require greater skill on the part of the operator. Having the correct accessories can make even the most difficult task easier and less time consuming.

It is vital that an operator be trained in the proper use of any accessories they may be required to use. One example of the importance of this training is the forklift extension. If it is extended too far it may cause the entire forklift to tip over. Safety should always be your top concern so be sure to be aware of the specifications of a given accessory.
